From Learning to Belonging: My Journey at Keyrus
The Job That Kept Coming Back to Me
Finding your first job after graduating is quite a moment. What made mine a bit special is that Keyrus and I had actually crossed paths before, while I was still studying. At the time, there were no open positions for me. So I went and interviewed elsewhere. And at every single one of those interviews, I kept thinking the same thing: "but it doesn't feel the same as Keyrus." So, when they contacted me again, saying yes was an easy decision.
What had impressed me from the very beginning was how the conversations went. Other companies were mostly interested in my abilities and qualifications. Keyrus was also interested in my passion and my motivation. Without even defining a job first, they asked me what I wanted to do, where I wanted to go. That told me a lot about the culture. It felt like a place where I could develop my skills, contribute to something bigger, and be surrounded by colleagues who are passionate, supportive, and open to sharing their knowledge.
What I Do in Real Terms
I joined as a Digital Customer Solutions Consultant in September 2023. In practice, I act as a bridge between business stakeholders and IT teams, translating business needs into functional and technical requirements. I'm involved across the full delivery cycle of an IT system, from business process modelling and documentation to writing user stories and all stages of testing.
I've been part of the same program at a client for over two years. It's made up of several sub-projects, and I've had the chance to support multiple business go-lives along the way. Each one came with its own challenges, but seeing them succeed has been incredibly rewarding. When I first joined as a junior, I relied heavily on the guidance and support of my colleagues to find my footing. Over time, with each go-live and each new responsibility, I grew more confident and independent. Being part of that full journey, from learning the ropes to leading my own work, is something I'm genuinely proud of.
Oh, and it's always a bit funny telling people where I live and having to explain that yes, it's not exactly close to Brussels. I like to think it shows the dedication and motivation I bring to my work here.
What Makes Keyrus Unique
For me, it's the people-focused culture, where learning, innovation, and personal growth are constantly encouraged and supported. The coaching culture is a big part of that. Knowing you always have someone to talk to and assist you throughout the year really makes a difference. My coach guided me through the learning curve, helped me navigate challenges, and gave me the confidence to grow from a junior who needed direction into someone who can now work independently. Having that kind of guidance and trust made all the difference.
A Trip to Remember
My favourite event so far has been the Skirus trip. It was the perfect mix of adventure, laughter, and genuine team bonding. The kind of experience where you get to know your colleagues beyond work and really feel part of a community. What I especially loved was how the trip brought together people from different teams and levels, creating a sense of connection across the entire company. Sharing the slopes, the après-ski moments, and all the little memories in between made it an unforgettable trip that brought us closer together.
What Has Really Stayed With Me
Trusting the process and believing in myself, even when imposter syndrome tries to get in the way. From the start, people around me believed in my potential and trusted me with responsibilities long before I fully trusted myself. Over time, with their encouragement and the experience I gained, I learned to recognise my own progress and step into that confidence. That shift, learning to see myself through the same positive lens others already did, has had a real impact on me.
I've also learned how to translate the theoretical knowledge I gained at university into practical, real-world work. Starting my career here right after graduating helped me understand how concepts I studied actually come to life in projects, client interactions, and day-to-day problem solving.
Looking Ahead
So far, my journey at Keyrus has been one of steady growth, learning, and finding confidence in myself. I've gone from a fresh graduate trying to bridge the gap between theory and practice to someone who can take ownership, contribute independently, and trust in my own abilities. What's next is exploring new opportunities and broadening my scope, continuing to challenge myself and grow in new directions while building on everything I've learned so far.
If you're thinking about joining Keyrus: stay curious, be open to learning, and don't hesitate to step out of your comfort zone. Keyrus is a place where taking initiative is encouraged and rewarded, and you'll grow faster than you expect.
