From Student Fair to Career Flair: My Journey with Keyrus
How It All Began
I first encountered Keyrus at a job fair I was organising for the students at the University of Ghent. I was focused on getting the event off the ground, but Keyrus somehow ended up launching my career instead!
And my career really got launched! The recruitment process was seamless, and Keyrus truly lived up to their motto—not just "Make Data Matter" but also "Make People Matter." They matched me with a job that perfectly aligned with my interests, and that's how I found my way into the fascinating world of Data Governance and Data Management after completing my degree in Business Engineering.
A Journey of Growth
I’ve been with Keyrus for two and a half years now, and what a ride it has been! From knowing nothing at all about Data Governance & Management to having the privilege of working with clients across a wide variety of industries, tackling both long-term and short-term projects that cover every aspect of Data Governance and Data Management. No two days are the same here, and that’s part of what makes it so exciting.
One of the highlights of my journey has been becoming a coach for the first time. It’s empowering to be part of an organisation that places so much trust in its employees to coach and support their colleagues. This responsibility demonstrates how Keyrus values its people, encouraging them to share their knowledge and expertise with others. It's all about fostering a collaborative environment where everyone is given the opportunity to help each other grow.
It’s empowering to be part of an organisation that truly trusts its employees and supports their growth through both soft- and hard-skill training. Whether it’s increasing my technical expertise or developing soft skills, Keyrus provides the resources and encouragement to grow.
Driving Internal Initiatives
Another thing I value deeply is the opportunity to drive internal initiatives. It’s a great way to connect with people across the company, even outside of your immediate team, and it shows how much the organisation values innovation and employee contributions. I myself became an OKR-ambassador, helping colleagues in setting their Objectives & Key Results, a really fun way of getting to know my colleagues!
A Standout Culture
But for me the culture here is the most standout feature. With a flat structure and collaborative atmosphere, you know everyone, and everyone knows you it really feels like a family. From the Christmas parties to the summer BBQs, the sense of community is strong. In fact, even before my very first day, I was invited to the summer BBQ to already meet my future colleagues. Milton Friedman may have said, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch,” but I can confidently say, “There is such a thing as free BBQ!”
All jokes aside, if you’re looking for a place where you can grow, be supported, and have a little fun along the way, Keyrus is the place to be. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next.
